Sizing is now commercially available

Spray Sizing at 25%...30% starch solids is commercial with the first unit using at start-up phase in Germany. The quality in sizing will certainly rival that of a film press. The units are easy to retrofit on existing machines that has with a size press. A two roll load controlled nip is necessary after spray sizing of dry paper while the location can vary greatly from the "middle" of the machine to the dry end for the light weight grades.

Coating is approaching completion also

First go back to the old roll coaters that had a problem in film splitting, then came the blade coating where large quantities of coating had to be doctored away with rigid plate before an excellent quality surface could be reached. Wa also had air blade coaters that removed the excess coating color from the paper surface by blowing it away. The remaining layer after the air blast had excellent coating layer properties but that layer was following the paper surface and with that blade coated paper remained the market leader.

Spray coating will provide an exact amount of coating color onto the paper surface and that changes the game. We are not dependent on thick viscous layer that must be split and excess removed one way or the other. We now just "smoothen" this layer as needed depending on the application. We can also add coating layer by layer - one, two, three, etc., layers - with exact amount of coating color in each of them and with components that make most economic sense resulting to paper quality that can rival anything on the markets today. This all can be done at high speed and operating efficiency making all early adopters highly competitive.

What is in the future?

For the future we have an R&D project to produce layered paper using our spray technology. We envision this to happen at around 5%+ fiber suspensions.  Ahlstrom (a Finnish company) tried a resembling technology in mid 1970's and while making quality product the operating range of the system was too narrow for the paper industry requirements. We do not have this limitation. When completed water consumption in paper forming section can be reduced by up to 90% with sizeable reduction in energy consumption.

We are ready to discuss licensing or selling all these technologies. For ownership check the "Who we are" below.
