Mr. Kangas is an independent process engineering and business consultant based in Atlanta, GA (USA), and Principal of ICN Independent Consulting Network, solving problems for global pulp and paper industry. He enjoys developing new technologies such as de-inking, recycling, and spraying for paper surfacing resulting in patents and several pending.
Formerly, he worked as a senior engineering and business consultant for Jaakko Poyry, Simons-Eastern, and Ekono. His specialties include mill operating improvement analysis, paper manufacturing, recycling, energy conservation and efficiency, sizing, coating, and neural analysis. In addition to manufacturing of publication papers in Finland, he was pioneering paper recycling and de-inking technology. As the Technical Director of Kerayskuitu Oy, in a joint venture with the Finnish paper industry, he advanced flotation de-inking into a new level to include 100% unsorted mixed household waste paper as raw material. Curiosity led him to study the global pulp and paper industry first hand to improve their operations and economic performance. In addition he is Executive VP in Dryad Technology Inc., intending to commercialize spraying technology as a new alternative for paper and board sizing and coating.
Mr Kangas holds a Masters Degree in Paper Technology from the Helsinki University of Technology (Finland).
