The Developers of the New Millennium Paper Coating and Sizing Technology

Dryad have the rights to internationally patented spray sizing and coating technology.

Dryad have the rights to a high efficiency spray "atomizer" that could potentially be used in most of the commercial spraying processes.

Dryad News - The latest pilot tests proved that our sizing technology meets the commercial requirements and is ready to go.

Dryad continues developing their proprietary patented paper making process that has potential to produce quality paper at up to 5+% consistency.  When completed the water consumption in paper forming section can be reduced by up to 90%.  This process will produce so far unavailable precision engineered paper products and will have two environmental bonuses: 1) major reduction in paper mill energy use, and 2) a major reduction in paper mill water consumption.  Unfortunately, the commercialization of this new technology is still years in the future, but stay tuned!

DRYAD Group announce results from the latest high speed pilot tests in Finland run during November  17 - 21,  2008

Our sizing concept is simple, we just add our low space requirement spray units to a size press before the nip.  We then add any desired amount of high solids starch for the sizing effect and finish the quality using the size press rolls.

We are happy to report that these latest pilot tests for board grade papers have been a great success. The results confirm that we can put a film press quality starch layer on paper surface at any desired starch loading level.  We also have tools to control the CD profile of this starch layer as desired.

The latest tests were run using two layer untreated testliner as base paper. We can meet and exceed the paper quality requirements for the markets and can now offer a process that will use previously unattainable solids level in starch.  We could not detect any deterioration in paper quality with increasing starch solids i.e. we can go even higher.

Our process makes easy and inexpensive retrofit opportunities for all those with an existing size press in place.  We can reduce the use of wet end starch or perhaps in some cases even eliminate it.

It is also conceivable that we should be able to create superior quality layered paper grades by using spray units between the layers.

Our financially highly attractive sizing process is now available for testliner manufacturing.  Why testliner only?  We see this process to be suitable for all other paper and board grades too but to start the commercialization the waste paper based testliner was a perfect fit for multiple of reasons including sizeable energy savings on the top.

Below are two examples how to install our patented system to size press area:
